Application –IPTG functions by binding to the repressor and altering its conformation which prevents the repression of the b-galactosidase coding gene LacZ.

IPTG is a widely used for the induction of the recombinant proteins in E.coli. This reagent remains liquid at its storage temp., thus avoiding freeze-thaw cycles.
